About
Ellie Michaelidis
London-Based Cinematographer | Merging Craft and Technology to Shape the Future of Visual Storytelling
Hi, I’m Ellie, a cinematographer and camera/lighting department crew member based between Europe and the U.K. I recently graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Film and Television Production from Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television in Los Angeles and I’m currently pursuing an M.A. in Cinematography at the London Film School.
My work spans both narrative and documentary projects, with international experience shooting across Germany, Greece, and the U.S. I primarily work as a Director of Photography and in the camera department (1st A.C., Gaffer). I’m experienced with digital cinema cameras like the ARRI Alexa, Blackmagic, Sony Venice and the FX lines, as well as film cameras such as Arriflex models. I’ve worked with a range of lenses, wireless follow focus systems, and on-set monitoring setups.
I’m drawn to projects with a clear sense of tone and character and I like to adapt my visual approach to suit each story. I care about crafting honest, intentional images on all collaborations, whether they be stylized fiction or naturalistic non-fiction. I enjoy working with directors and crews who value clarity, preparation and creative exchange on set.

Photography Exhibits + Distinctions
Apart from cinematography, I am an avid photographer, poster designer and traveler. I believe that beauty often hides in the most unexpected of places.

2022: ACS Athens Visual Arts & Graphic Design Exhibition (in-person).
2025: My Photo “Seagull of Morro Rock” received the “Advanced Selection” Badge for The Exposure Photo Gallery’s The Silent Beauty Competition.
“Sir Richard” & “Disappear Here” received official selection status at the Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions Vol. 9. at Pinewood Studios.
Cinematography + Educational Content
Apart from pursuing my degrees in my field of focus, I am a proponent of learning on your own accord as well. I am constantly trying to learn more about my field. I take every opportunity to visit rental houses, perform lens tests and familiarize myself with which gear packs would perform best depending on the particular intentions of a project.
I recently began producing short-form educational videos on social media to break down technical tools and workflows into accessible visual content for aspiring DPs and film students.
Work Experience
I am currently a Cinematography Mentee at Film London Connect.
I recently completed internships for DK Rental House (Camera & Lighting Intern), Bondit and Buffalo 8 (Development Intern), Deutsche Welle (Documentary intern) and The Wolper Organization (Development).
I led LMU’s Institute of Business Ethics and Sustainability in the College of Business Administration as head of videographer from 2022-2025.
